Congratulations to Kelly Whiteford for receiving a $193,291 research supplement funded by the National Institute on Aging for “Neural and Perceptual Mechanisms for Coding Frequency Modulation.”
This project investigates the impact of any degradation in auditory encoding on individuals with mild cognitive impairment who have biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease. Degradation in auditory encoding may be an early perceptual marker of Alzheimer's. Does the degradation of auditory encoding contribute to difficulties in navigating auditory scenes? The results will provide data and a foundation for more extensive studies on how auditory neural coding and perception change through the early and advanced stages of Alzheimer’s Disease.
