Rich Lee, PhD, Distinguished McKnight University Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota, recently reflected on Dr. Erika Lee’s (an Asian American studies professor at the U of M) testimony before Congress in a Minnesota Daily article titled, “‘Unfortunately, it is very American’: UMN professor testifies before Congress about anti-Asian violence.”
Dr. Erika Lee was invited to testify in front of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties to share a historical perspective on anti-Asian racism in the United States. Dr. Rich Lee felt that her testimony provided important historical context to other personal stories and present-day facts. This presentation communicated that this is not a new phenomenon.
