Students Address Properly Wearing a Mask

Gif of Social Media Posts Adressing How to Properly Wear a Mask
In Traci Mann’s, Health Psychology class, students were tasked with creating a public health campaign that encouraged proper mask use. Traci Mann, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota.

Mann was excited by the work she saw, as students applied their classroom knowledge to a real-world pressing issue.

The winning campaign (Students: Issabella Stirzl, Hope Thilges, and Alex Vang) created an elaborate and engaging collection of posters and social media content aimed at communicating the simple message of: Cover your mouth AND nose. The collection of posts had information targeted for both adults and children to educate all age groups.

Another inventive idea (Students: Lauren Sherman Jamie Wahout, Kamelo Jama, Salma Farah) was putting mask-wearing messages on cocktail napkins in bars which is an area where these messages are most needed.

Targeting young adults, one group (Students: Ivana Ndege, Vy Vu, Sebastian Vile, Jasmine Yusuf), made TikToks using current tik tok trends to convey important information about mask wearing.

This assignment and the unique work it created reminds us of the importance of properly wearing a mask and the need to share this information. So, let’s all be sure to cover our mouth AND our nose!
