Frazier Quoted in Fox9 Article on Stress

Headshot of Dr. Pat Frazier
2020 certainly has been a stressful year for most, especially for businesses and their employees. One local animal shelter, The Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, Minnesota, noticed an increase in their employees' stress levels due to the pandemic, politics, and more. Their solution? Giving their employees a full paid week off from November 2nd to the 9th.

Pat Frazier, PhD, Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota, remarks in a Fox9 article titled “Animal Humane Society to give workers a week off during election” that this is a great show of employer support. It also is a reminder that physical and mental health can go hand in hand: When you experience higher stress levels, you’re more susceptible to catching a cold or virus like COVID-19.
