Engel and Legge Awarded Grant From The National Eye Institute

Stephen Engel and Gordon Legge, professors in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota received a grant to study age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which typically produces extensive central vision loss. The grant aims to improve the effectiveness of assistive devices for reading, by shifting text to intact portions of the visual field, in real time. This R01 grant titled “Remapping the Visual Field to Aid Reading with Central Scotomas,” is funded through NIH - National Eye Institute from July 1, 2020 to June 30th, 2025.
