was given this honor for his extensive work expanding knowledge of the role of individual differences in workplace, higher education, and military settings. He joins Thomas Bouchard, PhD, University of Minnesota (2018) and Frank Schmidt, PhD, University of Iowa (2015) as a recipient of this award.
The award was established in honor of Prof. Marvin Dunnette, a pioneer in the field of Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology, who combined fundamental and applied research, as well as research applications in practice. He devoted his academic and professional life to the assessment, prediction, and explanation of individual differences in human behavior and performance.
Sackett joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota several decades ago as Prof. Dunnette retired, and reports that he has viewed it as his mission to uphold the legacy of Prof. Dunnette. As such, he views this award as a very special honor.
Sackett will receive the award at the 35th Annual SIOP Conference on April 23-25, 2020 in Austin, TX.
