Federico Brings Science to Politics

Christopher Federico, PhD, one of three professors interviewed by the Minnesota Daily was asked how he was managing classroom discussions of today's polarized politics. Federico said that for the most part, “it's not an exercise in just talking about what I think is right or what anyone else thinks is right politically. It's a rundown of what empirical research says about what people believe about certain things.”

And on the impeachment debate? Federico notes that the now-overlapping identities of "party, race, religion, and ideology" will weigh heavily into the background for the debate and may lead to higher levels of hostility than even Watergate.

Federico holds a joint appointment at the University of Minnesota in Psychology and Political Science.
